Building People-to-People Ties through Alternative Trade
Global Exchange is a nonprofit research, education and action center which was formed in 1988 to help advance the internationalist citizens' movement.
Our Fair Trade Program works to promote economic justice by purchasing crafts from small producer groups in developing countries. We buy directly when possible; particularly from Haiti, South Africa and Indonesia. we also buy through a network of alternative traders who are set up to assist these groups, often paying 50% of orders in advance to help disadvantaged groups have the access to credit they need to buy raw materials.
Benefiting people - not maximizing profits is our goal.
Craft sales generate desperately needed income for cooperatives and individuals working in some of the most impoverished areas of the world.
Your purchase from Global Exchange is helping to promote a new standard of fair trade, while giving Third World Artisans an opportunity to make a decent living for themselves and their families. thank you for your support.
