Perry's, for over 30 years an institution in San Francisco, is known for its classic American food, its warm personable service and a fun, bustling bar. The traditional upper east side bar and grill design, transplanted from New York in 1969, gives Perry's a warm, casual and comfortable feel. Perry's traditional and innovative menu includes a wide variety of sandwiches, creative salads, pastas, steaks, grilled fresh fish and Lobster Madness every Wednesday and Saturday night. The restaurant is open every day for breakfast, lunch, cocktails, and dinner, as well as weekend brunch.

Perry Butler brought the Perry's magic to San Francisco when he moved here from New York in 1969. He started out as an advertising executive, but with energy and ideas to spare, he transformed his career into that of an entrepreneur. This inspiration came from his desire to create his own place with the excitement and bustle of the type of neighborhood saloon he missed in New York--the kind of "Third Avenue places" that served traditional American food in a comfortable, inviting atmosphere. At the time, the concept of a light, airy interior, complete with live plants, was actually new to San Francisco. Pre-1970s bars in the city tended to be more dark and masculine--much less conducive to attracting a variety of people. Perry's on Union Street changed all that.
