Images of the North has been offering Inuit (Eskimo) art in San Francisco to a local, national, and international clientele since 1979. Owned and operated by Lesley Leonhardt, the gallery presents one of the largest collections of Inuit art in the United States and has always been in the forefront of the art form, featuring traditional as well as cutting edge work by well known and emerging artists.

The gallery is filled with intriguing Inuit sculptures, masks, works on paper, and jewelry. Visually compelling and offering a fresh and sometimes naive style, Inuit art tells fascinating stories about Inuit life, traditions, everyday events, wildlife, and mythical and supernatural aspects of the Inuit culture.

Images of the North features the yearly Cape Dorset print collections with graphics by Kananginak, Kenojuak, Pitaloosie, and Pauta, as well as exhibitions by important artists. The gallery represents Abraham Anghik Ruben, George Arluk, Kipo Tetpon, Jonasie Faber, Lillian Pitt, Joan Tenenbaum, Karen Olanna, along with artists from Alaska and the Canadian arctic co-ops.

Inuit art collectors come to the gallery to buy and sell, as well as bring their works in for appraisal. Do not hesitate to call for an appointment if you are unable to visit during posted hours of operation.
