This charming French brasserie has a very unassuming look, with a storefront that's mostly dominated by the bar and utilitarian open kitchen. There's a more expansive patio in back, and the ambience is first rate, enforced by the efficient but neighborly service. Chef-owner Jonathan Beard doesn't do anything innovative, but everything he attempts is right on target, including the bread, making it one of the best stops for Chestnut street shoppers.
